Why video chat without downloading an app?
Apps ask for a lot before the first call: storage, an account, a list of permissions and updates that arrive at the worst moment. A video chat without downloading skips that queue. You open a page, and the call is right there.
It's the better choice in a few common situations:
- Your phone is full. A website takes no storage space, so there's nothing to delete first.
- The device isn't yours. On a work laptop or a borrowed tablet, you often can't install anything, and you shouldn't need to.
- You're trying it out. See whether you like talking to a coach, tutor or expert before you give anything a spot on your home screen.
- You want control. Browsers grant camera and microphone access site by site, and you can switch it off again in settings.
hello.fan was built to work in the browser for exactly these reasons, in Chrome, Safari or Edge, on phones and computers. When you're ready, see who's online right now.
How does a video call without app installs work?
The steps are short. Go to hello.fan in your browser, sign up free with Google, Apple or e-mail, pick a creator who is online, and choose video, voice or chat. The first time, your browser asks whether hello.fan may use your camera and microphone. Say yes to both, and the call starts ringing.
From there, a video call without app installs is the same call you'd get anywhere on hello.fan:
- It's 1:1, between you and the person you picked.
- There are 21 free camera filters and live translated subtitles in 30 languages.
- Chat translates itself, so you can type in your own language.
- Nothing is recorded, and your phone number stays private.
An app is still there if you want one later. On Android, the hello.fan app rings like a phone call, which is handy if you have booked or weekly sessions. The iOS app is on its way, and until then the browser is how you call on an iPhone. Our browser video chat guide covers laptops and phones in more detail.
Is there free video chat no download on hello.fan?
Part of it is free and part of it isn't, so here's exactly which is which. Signing up as a fan is free, with Google, Apple or e-mail. Browsing who is online is free. Ringing is free. Chat is free with creators who set their chat price to free. And skipping the download costs nothing, because there's no app to buy.
Video and voice calls are paid by the minute in credits. Each creator sets a price from 50 to 5,000 credits a minute, and 100 credits equal $1, so a video or voice call starts at $0.50 a minute. Billing is per started 15 seconds, and only while you're both connected.
Example: a 3-minute video call at 60 credits a minute is 180 credits, or $1.80. A 10-minute call at 200 credits a minute is 2,000 credits, or $20.
- A call that doesn't connect costs nothing.
- The price is on the creator's page before you call.
- During the launch offer, new fans get +20% credits on their first top-up.
So if you want free video chat no download and no price at all, this isn't it. Our free video chat page goes further.
What about random video chat without app installs?
Many people looking for random video chat without app installs want something quick and anonymous. Searches like random video chat no download, or video chat with strangers no download, usually lead to random chat sites that pair you with whoever happens to be next. hello.fan isn't that, and we'd rather say so plainly.
There's no random matching on hello.fan. You see who is online, with their topics, languages and prices, and you choose whom to call. Here's why we think that's better:
- The people are real creators, coaches, tutors and experts who chose to be online and talk with fans.
- Creators can earn a Verified badge after an ID check.
- Everyone is 18+, and there is no adult content, ever.
- Nothing is recorded, phone numbers stay private, and block and report are in every call.
If a quick, anonymous chat with whoever comes next is what you want, a random chat site fits that better. If you'd rather talk to someone you picked, start with the fan guide to hello.fan or our random video chat page.
