On **hello.fan**, a video chat on phone screens works the way you'd hope: open the site, see who is online right now, pick a person and tap call. The people are real creators, coaches, tutors and experts, and each page shows their topics, languages and per-minute price before you call, so nothing is a surprise. You choose the format that fits the moment: - **Video** when you want to see each other face to face. - **Voice** when you're out walking, or the light is bad. - **Chat** when you can't talk out loud. Chat is priced at or below voice and video, and some creators make it free. Live video chat on mobile comes with the same extras as a call on a computer: 21 free camera filters, live translated subtitles in 30 languages, and chat that translates itself. If someone becomes a favorite, heart them and you'll get an alert when they come online. Phone cameras are good. Most of what makes a video chat on mobile look or sound bad is the setting around the phone, and that's easy to fix in a minute before you call. - **Face the light.** Sit with a window or lamp in front of you, not behind you, or your face turns into a silhouette. - **Prop the phone up.** Lean it against a mug or a stack of books at eye level. A steady picture is easier to watch than a moving one. - **Use Wi-Fi when you can.** Video needs a steadier connection than voice. On a weak signal, switch to a voice call. - **Wear earphones.** They cut echo and keep the other person's side of the call private. - **Check your battery.** Video calls use more power than texting, so plug in for longer calls. Before you tap call, let the browser or the app use your camera and microphone. The browser asks once. If you said no by mistake, our pages on [video chat on iPhone](https://thebestplatform.com/video-chat/iphone/) and [video chat on Android](https://thebestplatform.com/video-chat/android/) show where to switch them back on. ## Is there free mobile video chat on hello.fan? Here is exactly what's free. Signing up as a fan is free, with Google, Apple or e-mail. Browsing who is online is free, ringing is free, and so is chat with creators who set their chat price to free. There's no app to buy, either. Video and voice calls are paid by the minute in credits, because the person on the other side is giving you their time. Each creator sets a price from 50 to 5,000 credits a minute, and 100 credits equal $1. - You pay per started 15 seconds, so a short call costs a short amount. - The meter runs only while you're both connected. A call that doesn't connect costs nothing. - The price is on the creator's page before you call. Example: a 5-minute video call at 100 credits a minute is 500 credits, or $5. The same call with a creator who charges 60 credits a minute is 300 credits, or $3. During the launch offer, new fans get +20% credits on their first top-up. If you need video calls with no price at all, hello.fan isn't that, and we'd rather say so up front. Our [free video chat](https://thebestplatform.com/video-chat/free/) page goes into more detail. ## Why choose who you call instead of a random match? If you searched for random video chat mobile apps, you may have expected a button that drops you into a call with whoever turns up next. hello.fan doesn't work that way. It isn't roulette, and you never get matched with a stranger at random. Instead, you see who is online, read their topics and languages, check their price and call the one you want. That changes the call: - You know who you're about to see before the camera turns on. - The people are real creators who chose to be online and talk with fans, and creators can earn a Verified badge after an ID check. - Everyone is 18+, nothing is recorded, your phone number stays private, and block and report are in every call. If quick, anonymous chats with whoever comes next are what you want, a random chat app fits that better. If you want a real conversation with someone you picked, choosing wins. There is no adult content on hello.fan, ever.
